Steve Zahn was in Dynamix Productions yesterday performing ADR for the soon to be released "Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days." This is Zahn's third time around as father Frank Heffley in this popular franchise.

ADR (automated dialog replacement) is often used to re-record dialog that is missing, faulty, or rewritten. While watching video of the scene, the actor performs the new line with the same timing and inflection as the original dialog. Sometimes ADR is used to change a performance.

Since the original sound was recorded on a movie set, careful attention is given in microphone selection and placement to match the original sound. The recording studio must be dry and reflection-free so the new dialog can be seamlessly inserted into the track.

Using an ISDN connection (studio-to-studio digital patch), our studio in Lexington was able to directly synchronize sound and picture with Fox's Los Angeles studio. Both actor (in Lexington) and director (in LA) were seeing and hearing the same scenes and dialog.

Produced by 21st Century Fox, Directed by David Bowers, starring Rachael Harris, Steve Zahn, Devon Bostick, Peyton List Peyton List , and Zachary Gordon.
